Expectations for Young Scholars

As part of the Lang Lang International Music Foundation’s® mission to inspire the next generation of music lovers and performers, the Foundation is looking to support young pianists who demonstrate what we call “Play it Forward” by showing leadership in giving back to their communities through music.
We expect Young Scholars to already be heavily invested in pursuing music and playing the piano. They must have the drive to succeed and be committed to their craft. Young Scholars will receive unique opportunities to hone their craft, and discover insight into the professional world of music. Therefore, the child should be enthusiastic about the program and mature enough to take on the commitment.

As a Young Scholar, the child will become a representative of the Lang Lang International Music Foundation®. This requires young talents who exhibit a level of maturity beyond their years, a sincere sense of appreciation for music as a source of inspiration, and an understanding of their role as ambassadors of classical music.

The selected Young Scholar, their parents or guardians, and their teacher must be agreeable to the mission of the Foundation and willing to support the Foundation’s efforts through active participation in the Young Scholars Program. Selected Young Scholars will be invited to perform at Foundation programs including those focused on music education for young audience members and fundraising events. As such, parents and teachers must also be committed to the child’s participation in the program domestically and internationally.

Please note that applicants in China will become Young Scholars of the Lang Lang Arts Foundation.

We wish to inform you that the application period has now closed. We appreciate your interest and efforts. Best of luck to all those who have applied! Stay tuned for updates.
